Horton Hears a Who! (also known as Dr. Seuss's Horton Hears a Who!) is a 2008 CGI animated film based on the book of the same name and the fourth feature film from Blue Sky Studios. It was the first Dr. Seuss adaptation fully animated using CGI technology.

The film was directed by Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino, based on a screenplay written by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul. The film was produced by Bob Gordon, Audrey Geisel, Christopher Meledandri and Chris Wedge. Christian Kaplan was the casting director and music was provided by John Powell. This is the second film to feature both Jim Carrey, as the voice of Horton the elephant, and Steve Carell, who provides the voice of the Mayor of Whoville. This also marks the second Dr. Seuss adaptation to feature Jim Carrey in a lead role, the first being How The Grinch Stole Christmas!.

Treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates (Cage) looks to discover the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, by uncovering the mystery within the 18 pages missing from assassin John Wilkes Booth's diary.

While Ben is presenting new information about John Wilkes Booth and
the 18 pages missing from Booth's diary, one man stands up and presents
a missing page of John Wilkes Booth's diary. Thomas Gates, Ben's
great-grandfather, is mentioned in the page. It shows that Ben's great-grandfather
could have been involved with Abraham Lincoln's murder. When doing
more research, the conspiracy takes Ben, Abigail, and Riley to Buckingham
Palace (which they break into). It takes them to a book in the White House
(which they break into also) and they even steal a page from the book. But
in order to see more from the book, their choice is either get elected president
or kidnap the President of the United States. Which do they choose? It's obvious.
The conspiracy then crosses to Mount Rushmore and they even mention the J
FK conspiracy. Can Ben clear his family's name? Or will his family be linked to
the murder of Abraham Lincoln?

As an adolescent, David Rice (Max Thieriot) lived with his father William (Michael Rooker). His mother (Diane Lane) left when he was 5. David felt that his life was less than satisfactory, as his dad wasn't much of a father and he didn't have many friends.

One day at school, David falls through thin ice covering a river. He was trying to retrieve a snow globe that he bought for a girl named Millie (AnnaSophia Robb). Floating downstream with no way to surface through the ice, he inadvertently saves himself from a watery grave by reflexively teleporting himself into his local library. This is the first time David recalls Jumping. Using this new-found ability, he leaves his childhood home behind without telling anyone that he survived. He sets up in a New York City hotel and starts a life of crime, stealing money from a local bank by teleporting into the vault. Over the course of the next eight years, an older David (played by Hayden Christensen) continues to rob banks and lives a prosperous life in the city, traveling across the world at a whim. His comfortable lifestyle abruptly ends one evening when he returns home to find an unwelcome guest.

Roland Cox (Samuel L. Jackson), a Paladin who has been tracking David since his first bank robbery, finally finds him. Roland, with the intent to kill, uses a variety of advanced technologies to inhibit David’s ability to Jump. David manages to escape and ends up at his father's house in his old room. Upon seeing his neighborhood, David decides to find Millie (now played by Rachel Bilson). He learns that Millie works at a local restaurant and in the process bumps into Mark (Teddy Dunn), the childhood bully who was responsible for throwing the snow globe onto the iced-over river. The two get into a fight after Mark insults Millie. During the fight, David Jumps Mark into the bank vault from his first robbery, leaving Mark inside to be arrested. After Jumping back to the restaurant, David asks Millie out on a date and using his wealth flies with her to Rome for a holiday. It had been Millie's dream to travel the world and Rome was at the top of her list. Meanwhile, Roland interrogates Mark in jail, having been found in the bank vault. With what he learns, Roland sets out to find David.

Because it was closed, David and Millie break into the Roman Colosseum. While briefly separated, another Jumper named Griffin (Jamie Bell) confronts David. Griffin first spotted David in a London bar and had been tracking him for some time. Their meeting is cut short by two Paladins. Griffin kills the two and then returns to his "Lair." Leaving Millie behind, David follows Griffin home by entering Griffin's Jump Scar, the remnants from his teleport. Once there, David learns about a centuries-old war between Jumpers and Paladins (with Griffin referring to such subjects as the Holy Inquisition and the witch hunters), and about how Griffin is trying to track down and kill as many of the Paladins as he can. The walls were covered with all of Griffins' travels as well as drawings of Roland and various other Paladins. Griffin reveals that Paladins will stop at nothing to find Jumpers, killing family members in the process.

Fearing for Millie’s safety, David returns to Rome and together try to flee the Colosseum. However David is arrested for trespassing and taken to jail. While in custody, he gets an unexpected visit from his mother, Mary, who he hasn't seen in 18 years. She warns David that the Paladins are on their way and quickly exits the jail. After receiving the warning, David Jumps out of his confines and puts Millie on a plane to Detroit, all the while keeping Millie in the dark about his powers. David then Jumps to his father’s house to check on him. Unfortunately, Roland had already been there, leaving William for dead.

David Jumps his dad to the hospital and then Jumps to Griffin's lair. It is unclear whether William survives the assault. David and Griffin arrange a pact to "team up" for a short while for an attack against the Paladins. Before they begin, David Jumps to the airport in Detroit to ensure Millie's safety (who has been on the flight from Rome). David missed Millie as her flight landed early. He quickly Jumps to her home and then finally reveals his power. He then jumps them both to safety only moments before the Paladins arrive. The two arrive at Griffin's hideout, causing Griffin to panic. The Paladins have a device that allows them to travel through Jump Scars. Roland and a team of Paladins arrive in the lair and attack the group. During the fight, David notices drawings of his mother next to the other various drawings Griffin created over the years. Griffin kills the team with a flamethrower and fights against Roland one-on-one; stealing the Jump Scar teleporting device in the process. Griffin jumps Roland back to Millie's apartment and returns to the lair. Somehow Roland was able to pull Millie through the scar before it closes.

To end his 10 year search, Griffin prepares a bomb to kill Roland, but David objects because this move would kill Millie as well. The two struggle before David steals the detonator. Griffin chases David across the world, before the chase ends as David manages to trap Griffin in a collapsed electrical tower, preventing Griffin from Jumping. David Jumps to Millie’s apartment and carelessly rushes in, only to be caught by Roland and another team of Paladins. With great effort David manages to Jump a large portion of Millie’s apartment and everyone in it into a lake. From there, he jumps a portion of the apartment, Millie, Roland, and himself into a library. David then Jumps Roland to a cave in the Grand Canyon. Earlier, Roland revealed his desire to kill Jumpers because "they all eventually turn bad." Now in the cave, David responds "I told you I'm different. Could've dropped you with the sharks." David then leaves Roland and returns to Millie.

Some time later, David locates his mother Mary at her home, in the process learning that he has a sister (Kristen Stewart). When he confronts Mary, she reveals that she is a Paladin and that his first jump was actually when he was five. This is the real reason why she left her husband and son, so she wouldn't have to kill David. Mary tells David that she loves him and therefore will give him a head start. After leaving the house, David meets up with Millie and they both Jump out of the premises.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (also known simply as Borat), is a 2006 mockumentary comedy film directed by Larry Charles and distributed by 20th Century Fox. It was written, produced by, and stars the British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in the title role of a fictitious Kazakh journalist, journeying through the United States recording real-life interactions with Americans. It is the second film built around one of Cohen's characters from Da Ali G Show, following Ali G Indahouse, which also featured a cameo by Borat.

Despite an initial limited release in the United States, it was a critical and commercial success. Cohen won the 2007 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor: Musical or Comedy as Borat while the film was nominated for Best Motion Picture in the same category.[1] Borat was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 79th Academy Awards.

Controversy surrounded the film even before its release. It has been objected to for having a protagonist who is sexist and antisemitic (although the director, and both producers, including Cohen are Jewish), and some of those who appeared in the film later spoke against, and even sued, its creators. All Arab countries, except for Lebanon, banned it,[2] and the Russian government discouraged cinemas there from showing it.[3] It was released on DVD March 5, 2007 (a day later in Region 1 countries).

XXY is a 2007 Argentine film written and directed by Lucía Puenzo. The film stars Ricardo Darín, Valeria Bertuccelli, Inés Efron and Martín Piroyansky. It tells the story of a 15-year-old intersex person: the way her family copes with her condition, and the ultimate decision that she must eventually make as she explores her sexuality.

Alex (Efron) is a 15-year-old intersex person living in the secrecy of a lonely house by the sea in Uruguay. She is constantly changing schools and longs to be ridden of her tedious life. Her father, Néstor Kraken (Darín), is a marine biologist with a book on sexuality published who lives off fishermen who handle him wounded animals. Her mother, Suli (Bertuccelli), secretly invites a renowned surgeon to her house along with his wife and estranged son (Piroyansky), Álvaro. Alex and Álvaro soon become engaged in a hopeless relationship through which they must decide on their sexuality.

American Beauty

The film begins with a man narrating about himself, revealing that he will be dead in less than a year. He, Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey), is a cynical 42-year-old advertiser who hates his job and lives in the suburbs. His wife, Carolyn (Annette Bening), is an ambitious but bitter realtor. Their daughter Jane (Thora Birch) is a teenage cheerleader contemplating plastic surgery. Neither Lester nor Carolyn are happy with their marriage, and each blames the other one for their unhappiness. They spend dinner bickering across the table, which costs both of them Jane's respect.

A family consisting of Colonel Frank Fitts, USMC (Chris Cooper), his emotionally detached wife Barbara (Allison Janney) and their introspective son Ricky (Wes Bentley) moves next door to the Burnhams. Jane soon notices Ricky videotaping her through her bedroom window, which secretly flatters her.

Lester finds motivation for transforming himself after meeting Angela Hayes (Mena Suvari), Jane's best friend and classmate. Angela, a beautiful, confident and apparently promiscuous cheerleader who aspires to be a model, captivates Lester the moment he sees her perform a school dance routine at a basketball game. He develops an obvious crush on her, much to Jane's embarrassment and disgust. Angela, however, finds Lester "sweet" and later comments to Jane that if he were more muscular, she would "totally fuck him," which Lester overhears. He then starts an intensive workout regimen.

Following a meeting at a realtor's convention, Carolyn begins an extramarital affair with rival realtor Buddy Kane (Peter Gallagher), whom she admires for his success. At his advice, she begins relieving her stress at a shooting range. Lester becomes insubordinate toward the "efficiency expert" hired by his company which results in his termination, though he is able to blackmail his boss for an enormous severance package. He begins work anew at a fast food restaurant, Mr. Smiley's, wanting the job with the "least possible amount of responsibility," which infuriates Carolyn, who now has to shoulder the bulk of the household bills. Jane and Ricky bond over camcorder footage of a plastic bag "dancing" in the wind, which Ricky considers the most beautiful thing he has ever recorded. Ricky also bonds with Lester over recollections of the B-movies Re-Animator and Beastmaster which is used as a pretext to Lester purchasing high-grade marijuana from Ricky.

Some time later, Carolyn and Buddy Kane enter the drive-thru of the fast food restaurant where Lester now works. The unintended meeting leads Buddy to break it off with Carolyn. She angrily drives home with her gun with the intention of confronting her husband. Meanwhile, Lester calls Ricky to the house for marijuana, raising the suspicions of an already angry Col. Fitts, who watches the two in Lester's garage. Ricky rolls a joint while Lester lounges on a couch, but due to his perspective Col. Fitts believes that he has just seen his son performing fellatio. He aggressively confronts Ricky upon his return home, and recognizing the opportunity to be free from his family, Ricky plays in to his father's mistaken impression, claiming that he is a prostitute. Col. Fitts becomes violent, and disowns him.

Ricky asks Jane to leave with him for New York City. Jane not only agrees, but offers to supply money that she has been saving for a breast augmentation, though Ricky is unconcerned with money as his marijuana sales provide him a steady source of income and a cache of $40,000. Angela, who is visiting Jane's house, accuses both of being "freaks," to which Ricky retorts that she is ugly, ordinary, and boring. Angela is devastated, the implication being that Ricky has exposed her deepest fear; that she suspects she is indeed ordinary. At the same time, Lester is quietly approached in his garage while working out by a distraught Col. Fitts, who has been out in the rain. Lester attempts to comfort Col. Fitts who kisses him, believing him to be a homosexual based on what he had seen earlier. Despite his homophobia, Fitts is revealed to be a closeted gay man. Lester rejects this advance calmly as a misunderstanding, and Fitts leaves, humiliated.

Lester finds a vulnerable Angela in tears. He admits his attraction to her, and that he has been working out. He begins to undress her, but she admits that she is a virgin. This gives him pause and he relents. Conversing with Angela in the kitchen, Lester realizes that he is truly happy. As Angela heads to the bathroom, Lester contemplates an old photo of his smiling family - unaware that a gun is being held to the back of his head. The movie ends with Lester's description of his life flashing before his eyes, interspersed with scenes of his family and others at the moment of the gunshot. Ricky and Jane react from the upstairs bedroom, Angela from a bathroom, Carolyn from outside the front door (where she had been approaching the house with her own gun to confront her husband). As Carolyn disposes of her gun and weeps for Lester, Col. Fitts is seen back in his own house removing latex gloves and a blood-soaked shirt.
